Midsummer Magic: Creating Swedish Folk Art in the Garden

  • Museum of Old Newbury 98 High Street Newburyport, MA 01950 United States (map)

Come paint with us in the garden and learn a style of Swedish folk painting accessible to all. Enjoy this Swedish Midsummer celebration!

Come join us to celebrate Swedish Midsummer with Tina Rawson, whose Swedish heritage informs her art. You'll learn to paint in the style of Swedish folk art called "kurbits." We'll provide paints and canvases and you will take home your work. There will be festive beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and a garden to inspire your painting. Come with friends (or make new ones) and celebrate this magical day of summer!

An award-winning Swedish-American painter Tina Rawson loves painting expressive, colorful work in oil, acrylic or watercolor with movement, texture and joie de vivre. She lives in Newburyport where she enjoys sharing the love of making art and painting. Her work is currently at Oregano's and always viewable at www.TinaRawsonArt.com.

This class needs 4 people to run. Limit of 20 people in the class. $25 for museum members, $35 for non-members.
