For the past 140 years, the Museum of Old Newbury has been collecting, preserving, and presenting the history of Newburyport, Newbury, West Newbury, Byfield, and Plum Island.  With objects and documents, we tell the stories of local people from the past four centuries.

What's Going On?

The Museum of Old Newbury holds special events and programs for inquiring minds of all ages.  Year-round, these programs address topics of local interest ranging from seafaring to cemeteries and fashion to firefighting.

Home Sweet Home

Like many museums, our biggest collection pieces are our buildings.  With four historic buildings and a garden restored to its 19th century splendor, our museum holds as much history outside as it does inside.
